EQUS start-up Analog Quantum Circuits (AQC) has received an investment of $3 million from Uniseed to fund the development of key components required for the scale up of quantum computing. Nano lithography at CMM will be a critical facility for this development.

Micro-Crystal Electron Diffraction (MicroED) has created excitement in the scientific community as an emerging crystallography method to determine the 3-dimensional atomic structure of nanocrystals.
On Wednesday 6th July, we will be joined for a Frontiers seminar by Gavin Symonds, Product Manager for Laser Scanning Microscopy, Zeiss and Dr Nicholas Ariotti, group leader at IMB, UQ. They will be presenting an overview of applications and recent advances in the LSM 900 Airyscan 2.

Mandi will be presenting on overview of applications and recent advances in elemental mapping via X-ray fluorescence microscopy, followed by an update on the CMM’s XFM instrument presented by the Dr Lachlan Casey.

Earlier this year CMM teamed up with researchers from UQ’s School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences and application engineers from JEOL to achieve an important milestone. During a short test of UQ’s JEOL Cryo-ARM300 transmission electron microscope, almost 2000 micrographs containing pictures of the small iron storage protein, ferritin, were recorded over a period of 5 hours.
