Frontiers Seminar: Measurement of charge and chemical bonding through cryo-EM and ED

22 November 2023

Please join us for a Frontiers in Microscopy Seminar on Wednesday, 22 November.

Date/Time: Wednesday, 22 November 2023, 14:00 – 15:30 (AEST)
Title: Measurement of charge and chemical bonding through cryo-EM and ED
Presenter: Professor. Koji Yonekura - RIKEN Spring-8 Tohoku University
Venue: AIBN Building 75, Level 1 Seminar Room
Zoom:  https://uqz.zoom.us/j/85117053230

Abstract:

Using single-particle cryo-EM and three-dimensional electron diffraction (3D ED), we can explore 3D structural details in diverse samples from small organic compounds to large protein complexes. In this seminar, I will present our developments and results obtained using the 1st machine of a JEOL CRYO ARM 300 microscope. The topics will cover the measurement of charges and chemical bonding, AI-assisted data collection, and comparisons between 3D ED and serial crystallography with X-ray free electron lasers (XFELs).

Tea/coffee offered at the end of the session!

All welcome!
