The Queensland Government has recently awarded $53 million to spark a new wave of innovation in quantum and advanced technologies, aiming to make Queensland the Quantum State of Australia.

We are excited to announce that CMM’s Life Science and Soft Matter Laboratory, located on Level 1 of AIBN (building #75), has officially gone live with PC2 certification (Cert-4972). This certification allows us to accept unfixed PC2 materials for further processing, significantly expanding the facility's capabilities.

Join us virtually at the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis for an exciting seminar on the cutting-edge advancements in multimodal spectroscopy, with a special focus on the breakthrough technique - submicron IR (Optical Photothermal IR, O-PTIR) and its integration with optical microscopy, fluorescence, and simultaneous IR+Raman microscopy. This revolutionary approach overcomes the traditional limits of IR microscopy, achieving true submicron spatial resolution in a contact-less reflection mode without the need for ATR, while delivering FTIR transmission/ATR-like data quality. Combined, these modes provide for unparalleled multimodal chemical characterisation of the sample at submicron, even sub-500nm resolution.

Researchers have achieved a significant breakthrough by converting carbon dioxide into methanol through the illumination of sunlight on copper atoms deposited on carbon nitride, potentially paving the way for the development of new green fuels. The research has been published in the Sustainable Energy & Fuels Journal.
