Abstract:
Structural studies of TRPV1, a heat activated ion channel, by single particle cryo-EM has changed the landscape of structural biology. With the technological advancements, our understanding of TRPV1 gating mechanism also deepens. I will review the journey of studying TRPV1 structures from determining its first atomic structure to revealing its polymodality of channel gating.
