Researcher biography

Jonathon obtained his BSc and BE (Hons) from the University of Queensland in 2015, with majors in Mechatronics and Physics respectively. Since graduating he had been working with the Complex & Intelligent Systems and the Human-Centred Computing groups at UQ as part of the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language (CoEDL). Some of his projects included the OPAL child-friendly robot, designed to interact with and study child developmental behaviours, as well as the iRat bioinspired robot project which studied pro-social interactive behaviours between rats and robots. Jonathon’s expertise and interests include embedded systems design, electronics, system automation, machine learning and AI, and social robotics.
