Researcher biography

Dr Andrii (Andrew) Kostryzhev is an engineer and scientist with extensive experience in metal alloy design, processing technology development, microstructure characterisation and chemical analysis on SEM and TEM, and mechanical properties testing. He has got a PhD degree in “Manufacturing engineering” from the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine in 2002 and a PhD degree in “Materials Science” from the University of Birmingham (UK) in 2009. Over his academic and consultancy career in Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Australia he has delivered on numerous University-Industry collaborative R&D projects, produced 1 patent, 5 large industrial reports, and near 80 journal and conference articles in Russian and English languages with 50 co-authors from 7 international companies and 12 universities. In addition to R&D activities, Andrew has also prepared and delivered lectures at universities on “Engineering Mechanics” and “Metal alloys”, supervised 4 PhD and several Master and Honours undergraduate students to successful completion, served as a guest editor in 4 special issues of international journals. He is active in professional community domain, reviewing for 17 international journals, regularly presenting at international conferences, and serving on Standards Australia committee on mechanical testing of materials and Queensland Branch committee of Materials Australia.
