Researcher biography
Lou has completed his PhD in 2018 at the University of Queensland where he specialised in the structural analysis of protein macromolecular complexes using cryoEM, with a particular interest for AAA-ATPases and Virus-like particles. During his PhD he also spent 6 months at the C-CINA (Basel, Switzerland) a world class electron microscopy lab where he received an extended training on high-throughput electron microscopes. After the submission of his PhD Lou started a post-doctoral position with his PhD supervisor Dr Michael Landsberg at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences at the University of Queensland. His interest for electron microscopy has now directed him to work has a cryoTEM flagship scientist for the CMM.
Lou also has a MSc in microbiology and phytoressources that he completed at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (Lyon, France) and has experienced research in marine microbiology at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (Townsville, QLD) and in algae physiology research at the Institute for Molecular Biosciences at the University of Queensland.
