Ending such a complex and challenging year with a moment of recognition feels especially meaningful. I am incredibly proud that the Centre for Microscopy & Microanalysis (CMM) has been awarded the CRP Award for Excellence 2025 by our PVCRI, Paul Bonnington.
This award reflects the agility, resilience, expertise, and unwavering support the entire CMM team brings to researchers, students, and industry partners every day, across every instrument, every project, and every challenge.
Your dedication underpins breakthroughs from fundamental science to major national achievements, including enabling innovations like the Molecular Clamp technology, recently licensed to Sanofi in the largest commercialisation deal in Australian university history.
To the whole CMM team: thank you. I could not be more proud to work alongside you.
To all CMM staff who did not make it to the end of year celebration (banner photo), well done and thank you for your great support in 2025!

Official announcement from our DVCRI.
CRP Award for Excellence recipient 2025
Every year at this time we recognise the CRP that has best exemplified the values of the portfolio: empowerment, agility, resilience, and support - delivering outstanding results even as circumstances and our environment has evolved over the year.
This year’s recipient empowers researchers, students, and industry partners by providing access to world-class instrumentation, expertise, capabilities, and training across a multitude of disciplines.
The team demonstrates agility through rapid adaptation to diverse research needs, from the soft to the hard, while keeping pace with emerging technologies and challenges.
This year this CRP showed remarkable resilience, maintaining excellence and collaboration while sustaining high-quality operations and support for some of our most complex projects.
At the heart of their success is unwavering support that enables our research to achieve groundbreaking outcomes, including playing a pivotal role in the development of the Molecular Clamp technology that went on this year to be sold to Sanofi, in what is the largest commercialisation deal in Australian University history.
This year, it was an especially easy decision for the evaluation panel: the CRP Award for Excellence recipient for 2025 is The Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis (CMM).
Congratulations to Roger and the entire team!
