Title: Democratising the beamline – bringing elusive photons to the laboratory
Presenter: Dr Pete Lander from KMLabs
Date/time: Wednesday 15th May, 10 am to 11 am
Venue: Level 1 Seminar Room, AIBN Bldg #75
As benchtop Laser sources evolve, they become the source of photons for experiments that may previously have been isolated to the synchrotrons. Where previously the Laser itself was the experiment, recent advances in the commercialisation of these complex systems has brought this capability to the laboratory. Inevitably, this will lead to the growth of applications as a broader range of talented scientists gain access to these photons. This presentation will explore, in broad terms, the potential for these photons to be used for Materials and Life Science Characterisation and imaging, in addition to an overview of the impact of simplified laser technology in the scientific community.
