“Sample Preparation and Data Analysis Strategies for Mass Spectrometry Imaging” by Alice Ly (Bruker Daltonics Bremen, Germany)

Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionisation Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MALDI-MSI) is a technique that combines mass spectrometry with classical histology, resulting in a new quality of data in biochemical research and diagnostics. As an unbiased and label-free technique, MALDI-MSI is capable of measuring a wide range of analytes, for example proteins, peptides, lipids and endogenous metabolites. This technique can been used to provide molecular insight to address different problems such as tumour heterogeneity, identification of prognostic markers, and generating classifications.  In this talk, sample preparation for MALDI-MSI, compatibility with pathology workflows and how generated data have been used to investigate clinically relevant questions not suitable with standard methods will be discussed.

All are welcome!
