Researcher biography

Christian joined CMM in 2025 as Senior Principal Scientist - Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS). He is a materials’ scientist with a keen interest at chemistry and physics at interfaces.

Before joining CMM, Christian completed a PhD in Physical Chemistry at the University of Oxford in 2018, focusing on the measurement of interfacial and surface forces of chemical vapour deposition grown graphene. This was followed by a Postdoc at Johns Hopkins University, working on physical vapour deposition of aluminium thin films and their adhesion in aqueous environments. He then spent two years in data analytics, one supporting a social enterprise in Uganda and a second for a data analytics company in Australia.

He returned to STEM research in 2022, focusing on epitaxial growth and quantum defect engineering in diamond in an academic-industry partnership, with roles as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at RMIT University and Senior Materials Engineer at the industry-partner Quantum Brilliance.
