Researcher biography

Jordan Todd Poitras completed his BSc with honours in Geography at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, his Masters in Earth Science at the University of Toronto in Canada and his PhD in Geomicrobiology here at the University of Queensland. Jordan has research experience in ground truthing for Martian mineral identifications, Martian analogues, meteorite classification, mineral, and microbial characterization. Through the years he has worked with visible and near infrared spectroscopy, x-ray diffractometry, x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, and (perhaps more importantly) scanning electron microscopy. Jordan has been a CMM lab user since 2019, and joined the CMM team casually in 2021. His current role includes client training, data collection, and assisting in all things SEM including sample preparation, EDS, EBSD, and light microscopy.
